We have experience of building with natural materials such as earth, straw and bamboo. Sometimes these materials are obtained from the build site itself. We emphasise sourcing materials – clay, stone, timber – locally where possible, and always re-using / salvaging timber or bricks for example. Using lime mortars and clay plasters mean that materials can been re-used by future generations too, or will breakdown without harming the environment.
Earth Ovens
We can build an earth oven in your garden, at your school, allotment, food or community project – where you can cook bread & pizzas, roasts & stews. We use reclaimed bricks or timber, and clay-rich earth, often from the build site itself.
Building an earth oven from clay-rich sub-soil is a great project to do with a group of people, as many hands really do make much lighter work – hence it’s really suited to be part-built at a workshop –then your family and friends can learn how to build one too!. This can also reduce the build costs.
EcoRefab may be able to run the build as a workshop so your friends and family can learn how to make one too!

We are committed to seriously reducing construction waste.
This is the only site waste from a 2 week earth build!
